How to Configure Edge With PDF Files
As long as Microsoft Edge is unable to open PDFs in new windows but opens them within one tab of the browser interface, you have to find a detour. Such a procedure is not very laborious and consists of just a few steps:
1. Configure your computer to default opening any PDFs with an application like Adobe Acrobat Reader. This means when you click on a link to a PDF, it opens in the application and does not open in Edge.
– Right-click any PDF file.
– Turn on any other application.
– Right-click, then, from the list select a preferred PDF viewer, in this case, Adobe Acrobat to open.
Make sure the box beside the text says Always use this app to open .pdf files and click OK.
2. Work-around Solution: He does not need to change his default viewer from Edge because he can open each PDF file in its window. – Right-click the PDF link; select Copy link address.
Instead, using Ctrl + N opens a new instance of Edge, rather than a new tab, in which you’ll need only to paste the link into the address bar that opens and press Enter.
3. Keyboard Shortcut: Also, by default, the behavior of Shift + Click on any PDF link will open it in a new window. Of course, that depends on how the settings are done, and it may differ. With these settings, I may not get exactly what I need but definitely closer results. One can reach out to me for all of the above questions!
